I have been going to Pat's since 1950's in the Italian Market Area. Pat's has been duplicated all over the USA but its the original. All kinds of people go there and when I visit Philadelphia from California we always make it a point to go to South Philly and stop there EXCEPT when its too cold out and windy and freezing. I wish there was some sort of shelter for us freezing tourists. Many a time we went there and ate a cheese steak in the car and then for the next week there was no hiding where we had been. Pat's ought to franchise with strict standards as America is full of `imposter Philly Cheese Steaks`. What's the secret? Amoroso rolls (or similar) and the onions. Yummy- Is follow up to post by bbm04 ...
Pat's is the best cheesesteak I've ever had. It is truly unique. Pat's is one of the many things that makes this city great. People can taste the heart and soul of the city of Philadelphia in one bite of this marvelous invention called the "Philly Cheesesteak". Pat's is truly th king and it will never be outdone. -- 2/23/2001 1:23:35 AM
